Since I was a boy, I always fiddled and tinkered with anything I could get my hands onto. While it sometimes had undesired effects (like throwing my father’s Commodore 128 in a irreparable state, by the age of 4), it made me realize I wanted to know how machines work. My first contact with computers came, as expected, with computer games, an activity I haven’t yet outgrown.
Later I discovered some of the numerous things one can do with a computer and the amount of information that it makes accessible and I was utterly amazed.
I believe it was these experiences and the influence of my elder brother that pushed me into pursuing an engineering education.
